Abstract

|
In order to know availability of bulbil for cut-flower cultivation and corm production, we investigated the effect of duration of cold treatment and planting depth of Liatris spicata ¢¥Floristan Violet¢¥ bulbil (circumference 4-6 §¯). It was possible to produce cut flowers when the bulbils were planted 1/2 of its height above growing medium after cooling over 90 days at 5¡É. However, when the bulbils were planted at 8 §¯ depth, occurrence of rosetted plants was increased, and it was able to produce the big corms with many buds. When these corms were planted 1/2 of its height above medium in next year, many sproutings and boltings were observed to obtain 5 stems at least. Therefore, it was able to use liatris bulbils for corm production and cut flower cultivation.
